A Fire in the Cold Season
A hushed voice can be heard in the midst of the vast woodlands and mill villages that make up central Newfoundland. A solitary fur trapper and a pregnant woman in emotional distress are brought together by the discovery of a body on the bank of a river. Scott is a loner who is anxious to find some purpose for his life. Mona has a strong will, yet she is irritated by the fact that she is fragile. Because of the pair's unwilling dependence on one another, they find themselves in the middle of a violent confrontation while trying to settle the debts of a deceased man. They are being followed by bandits, so they make plans to escape.
