Rock Hudson is an Air Force Colonel who just got a new job as a commander of B-52 bombers during the Cold War. He has to get his men ready for a tough inspection that the previous commander failed and was fired for. It turns out he's also recently married, and his wife sees a side of him that she hadn't seen before. As a tough commanding officer, he does what he needs to do to make his men better.
