American History X
Derek Vineyard has been granted release after completing a sentence of three years in jail for the murder of two thugs who attempted to break into or steal his truck. We learn through the narration of Derek Vineyard's brother, Danny Vineyard, that before Derek Vineyard went to prison, he was a skinhead and the leader of a violent white supremacist gang that committed acts of racial crime throughout the city of Los Angeles. Derek's actions also had a significant impact on Danny. Derek, newly released from prison, cuts off all ties with the gang in an effort to dissuade Danny from following in his footsteps and engaging in violent behavior.
