This one-off drama goes back in time to 1963 to see how Doctor Who was first put on the screen. A lot of William Hartnell's roles were hard-man ones. No matter how hard Verity Lambert tried, she couldn't break through the glass ceiling in the TV industry and become a producer herself. In a Saturday tea-time drama, both of them found hope they didn't expect and new challenges they didn't know they had. When they worked together with a group of people who were very different but very smart, they made the longest-running science fiction show ever.
