Nothing can separate two spirits once they have found each other. After the death of his wife and mother Mio (Shido Nakamura), widower Takumi (Shido Nakamura) lives quietly with his six-year-old son Yuji (Akashi Takei) (Yuko Takeuchi). "I'll be with you again in a year, when the rains arrive," Yuji says, remembering her vow to him. Takumi and Yuji are walking through the woods on the first anniversary of her death when they come across a woman seeking refuge from a monsoon deluge. She has an incredible likeness to Mio, but she has no memory of who she is or what she is doing there. Takumi and Mio's memories of their first encounter in high school flood back, and their family life resumes where it left off. However, the discovery of Mio's old diary, which reveals the secrets of her history and how they must say goodbye again in six weeks, disrupts their new life together...
