A play based on the experiences of Agu, a young child fighting in the civil war of a fictional West African country that has not been identified. The adventure of Agu as he is compelled to join a troop of warriors is chronicled in this film. Even though Agu fears his commander and many of the soldiers around him, his young boyhood has been disrupted by the war raging across his country, and he is first split between conflicting feelings of revulsion and fascination with what is going on. Draws on his experience as a child soldier to depict the mechanics of battle in precise, visceral detail, creating a complicated and disturbing portrait of Agu as a child soldier.
