In 1967, de Andrade was welcomed by the Italian business Olivetti to create a documentary on the brand-new Brazilian funding city of Brasília. Constructed throughout the last half of the 1950s and also founded in 1960, the city became part of an effort to occupy Brazil's vast indoor region and was to be the embodiment of democratic urban planning, devoid of the course departments as well as inequalities that define many metropolises. Unsurprisingly, Brasília, Contradições de uma Cidade Nova (Brasília, Contradictions of a New City, 1968) revealed Brasília to be utopic only for the rich, replicating the exact same social problems existing in every Brazilian city.
