Based on the novel by Hammond Innes. Bruce Campbell (Dirk Bogarde) inherits his grandfather's Canadian Rockies ranch. He has a terminal illness and decides to find the oil his grandfather believed was on his land to clear the family name. His grandfather was erroneously convicted guilty of fraud when his oil exploration company went bankrupt. Owen Morgan (Stanley Baker) runs a corporation building a dam that will flood the "Kingdom" The oil must be proven before the dam is finished.
