By June 1942, the Japanese Navy had made its way across the Pacific. In an effort to change the course of the war, the US has put a carrier group off the coast of Midway with the mission of setting a trap for the enemy. During this important battle, the two-man crew of a U.S. Navy dive bomber is forced to ditch in the water. When they are lost at sea, the men look to their fellow soldiers for help. They look to the crew of a PBY Catalina, which is sent to look for survivors. As the days pass and the chance of being saved decreases in the vast Pacific, the men are forced to face their own deaths.
