When Roman Strauss was hanged in 1949 for the violent murder of his wife Margaret with a pair of scissors, he was a well-known composer. During the 1990s in Los Angeles, a mute amnesiac woman appears at an orphanage, and private investigator Mike Church is summoned to investigate. Under hypnosis, both the woman and Church appear to have a weird connection to the Strauss murder, which they later deny.
