Fateless
During World War II, a Hungarian adolescent comes of age at Buchenwald. György Köves is 14 years old and the son of a merchant who has been sent to a labor camp. György finds work at a brickyard following his father's departure; his bus is stopped and its Jewish passengers are transferred to concentration camps. György discovers friendship, pain, cruelty, illness, and death in this place. He is advised on how to maintain one's dignity and self-esteem. He discovers hatred. What will he discover if he does survive and returns to Budapest? What is natural; what does being a Jew entail? Sepia, black and white, and different color schemes are used to soften the atmosphere.
