Faust is a 2011 Russian film directed by Alexander Sokurov, which is set in the medieval period. It is a free interpretation of the Faust mythology and its literary adaptations by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Thomas Mann, set in the nineteenth century. The dialogue is only in German, of course. At the 68th Venice International Film Festival, the film was awarded the Golden Lion for best foreign language film.
