Raoul Duke and his lawyer, Dr. Gonzo, drive a red convertible over the Mojave desert to Las Vegas to cover a motorcycle race with a suitcase full of drugs. The stoned duo wreck their hotel room and fear legal ramifications as their drug usage grows at an alarming rate. Duke starts driving back to Los Angeles, but after an unusual run-in with a cop, he returns to Sin City and resumes his wild drug binge.
