Wanyan Liang planned to invade the Southern Song Dynasty in 1161. The Jin's brutality and the Central Plain's strict recruitment policy made life difficult. Xin Qiji, 21, fought with villagers against the Jin army and subsequently joined Geng Jing's army, gaining victory after victory. Xin Qiji went to the south in 1162 to convince the Song Emperor to evict invaders and regain lost regions for reunification. Xin Qiji completed his objective but found Geng Jing dead by a traitor and the soldiers demoralized. Xin Qiji and his 50 devoted servants face Wanyan Basu's 50,000-man army.
