Ghost in the Machine
Karl, a computer technician who works in a computer store, is also known as the "Address Book Killer," a serial killer who obtains the identities of his victims by stealing their address books. In order to price software, Terry and her son Josh come into the store, and a salesperson uses Terry's contact book to demonstrate a hand-held scanner to the pair. While traveling to Terry's house that night in a violent thunderstorm, Karl's automobile goes off the road and comes to rest upside down in a cemetery. Karl is charged with obtaining the file. In the hospital, when Karl is having a CAT scan done, a bolt of lightning strikes the building, transforming Karl's soul into electrical energy. Karl continues his assassination spree by utilizing the electrical grid and computer networks.
