Hamlet in the Golden Vale
A troupe of players arrives at a castle deep in the Irish countryside and initiates the story of Hamlet by setting it in motion. The performers' lives and those of their characters become entwined as Prince Hamlet faces the spirit of his father and seeks vengeance on his uncle and newly chosen monarch, Claudius. Hamlet's quest for vengeance scorches the lives of everyone within the castle walls and exposes the numerous paradoxes and ambiguities inherent in human existence. After seven days, the performers emerge from the castle, leaving the castle and its inhabitants behind.
