Hearts of the West
Zane Grey is Lewis Tater's hero, and he wants to be a famous Western author like him. He leaves home to answer a writing correspondence course's ad for on-campus classes, only to find out that the school is just a row of postboxes at a deserted Nevada train depot with no other people around. Lewis is on the run from the con men who did this, and he comes across "real" cowboys. They are actors who are filming a movie in the desert, and they look like real cowboys. As time goes on, the man who wanted to be a writer ends up instead acting in Westerns for Tumbleweed Productions, a run-down studio in Hollywood during the Great Depression.
