Hell Is for Heroes

Military action film set during World War II in which an entire unit of American soldiers attempts to counter the German Siegfried line by performing a single, decisive operation. To make matters worse, Reese and the rest of the exhausted soldiers had just arrived at a rest stop when the order was issued. Many soldiers leave their posts confronting a German pillbox on the other side of a minefield, but only a few remain to guard an expansive line of defense. They deceive the Germans into believing that a substantial force is still occupying the area. When the main platoon returns, Reese is threatened with court-martial for leading two of the men in an illegal and failed attack on the pillbox, in which the other two are killed. Instead of having to face his shame, he decides to launch a solo attack on the pillbox to prove his point.
