Ray Livingston is a relationship-blogging hack ("in fact, a freelance writer") who is the author of Brooklyn's infamous blog, "Occasionally Dating Black Women." Although the well-written, if not contentious, blog has garnered some attention, Ray is chafing from an excessively long stay in New York, romantic ennui, and a stagnant writing job. After a particularly bad week, he embarks on a rampage and harasses a stunning random pedestrian, only to realize that she is Rochelle Marseille, one of New York's rising authors. Ray is taken aback when Rochelle provides him more than he ever imagined she would in an effort to maintain his media clout.
