The last of the cherry blossoms are in bloom in April, signaling the arrival of spring. In a hospital waiting room, an aloof bookworm discovers a book that piques his attention. The words "Living with Dying" are scrawled on the front cover. Sakura Yamauchi, a popular and genuinely happy classmate, reveals to him that she is secretly suffering from a pancreatic illness and has only a limited amount of time left to live in her diary. She acquires one more person to tell her secret at this point. Sakura is determined to enjoy her life to the fullest till the end, even if it means sacrificing some of her customary routines. His heart begins to soften as she gradually changes his mind with her free-spiritedness and unpredictability.
