Ernest Hemingway (Chris O'Donnell) is a teenager when he gets shrapnel in his leg during World War I. He falls in love with Agnes von Kurowsky (Sandra Bullock), a beautiful older nurse at the hospital where he is being treated. Their love grows over time, until Hemingway boldly asks Agnes to be his wife and go to America with him as he goes to the US. In this movie, Richard Attenborough tells the real-life story of the famous author.
