In My Father's House
Family members of Moroccan-born Fatima Jebli Ouazzani moved to the Netherlands when she was 11 years old. When she was seven years old, her father divorced her mother and married a Moroccan girl who was 17 at the time. One thing Fatima was certain of was that she would not follow in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother and let herself to be married off. The filmmaker of this film, who is single and childless, wonders if she has made the right decisions. On the backdrop of Moroccan tradition, she tells a tale of her own past. Naima, a Moroccan girl who was born in the Netherlands, has decided to go that route. Naima will have to prove her virginity on her wedding night. The in-laws wait outside the bedroom to witness the bloodstained linens as a custom.
