Jesse, a New Yorker, returns to a small town to live with her now-widowed mother-in-law after the death of her father-in-law and a divorce. Jesse struggles to fit in with the locals, who, to put it mildly, do not welcome her with open arms. Jesse meets the local pastor, her widowed brother-in-law, and falls in love with him, much to the chagrin of the community. Things become even more complicated when her ex-husband calls, ostensibly attempting to reclaim her. Jesse's love life and entangled in-laws put her to the test as she tries to figure out where she truly belongs.
