Director Alejandro Jodorowsky's 1974 attempt to translate Dune into a feature film is the subject of a new documentary, which was shot in the United States, France, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. In spite of spending two years and tens of millions of dollars, Jodorowsky and the artists he recruited for his epic project continued to collaborate on other projects. In the films Alien, Blade Runner, Star Wars, and Total Recall, Jodorowsky's "warriors" helped define modern sci-fi filmmaking.
