Larceny
John Payne is a scumbag who tries to cash in on the goodwill and sorrow felt by veterans in the years following World War II. He cons a war widow (Joan Caulfied) into paying for a memorial that doesn't exist. Payne's con-artist boss (Dan Duryea) uses muscle and guns to back up his arguments, so when Payne falls in love with the widow, he experiences pangs of conscience.
