Józek is engaged to Tadek, a member of the Shooting Team who is also engaged to Ola. There are many historical figures in the film, as well as fictitious ones based on the lives of genuine legionaries. Lieutenant Stanislaw Kaszubski, pseudonym "King," and a slew of others. It follows the Legion's war path from 1914 to1916, from Oleandry through the battle of Kosciuchnowka, and depicts the most dramatic moments of its saga, including one of the film's most breathtaking sequences: the renowned uhlans' attack on Rokitna.
