Dr. Dempsey is a skeptic American scientist. He is not thrilled to be sent to Scotland by his employer to (dis)prove the existence of the Loch Ness monster. He finds the locals to be obstinate, 'primitive,' and unfriendly, not least because the Nessie legend is the only tourist attraction. He is still romantically attracted to his independent innkeeper Laura, and both her child and his local assistant end up forcing him to confront a small family of Nessie-dinosaurs, but is this to be made public?
