Brenda has struggled for years as a single mother living in inner city Chicago to make ends meet and keep her three children off the streets. However, when she is abruptly laid off, she begins to lose hope–until a letter arrives informing her of the death of a father she has never met. Brenda travels her family to Georgia for the funeral, desperate for any form of assistance. Nothing, however, could have prepared her for the Browns, her father's rowdy, crude Southern clan. Brenda fights to come to know the family she never knew existed in a small-town world filled with lazy afternoons and county fairs...and discovers a whole new romance that may transform her life forever. Tyler Perry adapted the narrative from "Meet the Browns," his theatrical play. Perry will appear in the film as Madea and Uncle Joe.
