In Disney's adaptation of Alexander Dumas' story, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy want nothing more than to commit valiant acts on behalf of their queen (Minnie Mouse), but they are thwarted by the head Musketeer, Pete. Pete secretly wants to get rid of the queen, so he chooses Mickey and his foolish friends as Minnie's guardians, believing that such a move will secure the success of his operation.
