Song, who was from Vietnam and was 20 years old at the time, was living in Prague at the time and hoped for a brighter future in Europe. Song escapes to the rooftop of a condo building in a nearby neighborhood, where he has a breakdown after his escape. Mr. Rypar (78) lives alone. When Rypar climbs up onto the roof, he finds Song sobbing at the very apex of the roof, and this is where the story begins.
