Perfumed Nightmare
In a voiceover, Tahimik talks about how people in the village live their lives. His favorite thing about the Voice of America is the space program. People who like Werner von Braun form a Werner von Braun fan club. He wants to be in the developed world. As soon as an American shows up for a meeting that was supposed to happen, he has a chance to speak. The American wants him to come to Paris, where he can run his chewing-gum-ball machine business on the street. In Paris, and on a trip to Germany, he makes friends and learns that progress in the developed world often gives up important values in order to make things better. When he sees a video of a summit meeting in Paris and can't get back to an idealized image of his past, he stubbornly refuses to agree to the terms of progress. He quits as head of the Werner von Braun fan club and says that he will find his own way.
