Pete, a young orphan, runs away to a fishing town in Maine with his best friend Elliott, a friendly dragon who sometimes can't be seen. Elliott's tricks get them into a lot of trouble when the kind lighthouse keeper, Nora, and her father take them in. Then, some shady salesmen try to kidnap Elliott for their own gain, and Pete has to try to save him in a daring way.
