We are now in the calendar year 2023. Quito has been surrounded by a wall since Leonardo Ponce, a military dictator who seized control of the city in the early 2010s, took authority. A group of revolutionaries led by Marcos and Santiago is on the verge of staging a coup d'état in their country. Just hours before the strike begins, Santiago stands forward and begins to pose difficult questions, prompting everyone to rethink why they are truly participating in this. During this time, Ponce is trying to figure out what is going on at the city wall from his residence in Ponce's palace. An remarkable amount of movement occurs, and one of the revolutionaries is apprehended. When Ponce confronts him, he tries to extract as much information as he possibly can. Quito 2023 is a short film that takes place entirely in two locations and depicts the human side of the revolution, as well as the internal struggles of its leaders and the hopelessness of an area that cannot be managed.
