Nim, a little girl of fourteen years old, is pitted between resort developers and animal poachers. She is more determined than ever to safeguard her island and all of the species that makes it their home. Soon after, she has the epiphany that she cannot rely on her animal companions by themselves and that she must make her first human friend, Edmund, who has fled to the island from the mainland in order to save her home.
