An underwater cave diving team embarks on a perilous mission to the world's largest, most beautiful, and least accessible tunnel system in the 3-D action-thriller Sanctum, directed by James Cameron and executive produced by him. A tropical storm sends them deep into the caves, where they must battle roaring water, treacherous terrain, and a growing sense of terror as they search for an unknown escape path that leads to the sea. The Esa-ala Caves in the South Pacific have been on Frank McGuire's (Richard Roxburgh) bucket list for months. However, when Frank's escape route is blocked by a flash flood, his crew, which includes his 17-year-old son Josh (Rhys Wakefield) and financier Carl Hurley (Ian Gruffudd), is forced to make drastic changes to their plans. With supplies running low, the team must cross an underwater maze in order to make it out alive. They are soon confronted with the obvious question of whether they will be able to survive or whether they will be trapped for the rest of their lives.
