Hank Stamper and his father, Henry, own and operate a family business in Oregon that consists of cutting and hauling logs. The town is enraged when the Stampers continue to work despite the fact that it is going bankrupt, and the other loggers go on strike, demanding the Stampers to halt. The wife of Hank wishes he would stop so that they can spend more time together. When Leland, Hank's half-brother, comes to work with them, additional problems arise.
