Beth Landon, a high school music teacher, takes a risk by inviting world-famous country singer Jason Keith to play at her small town's Strawberry Festival. Jason, a one-hit wonder with a bad reputation for canceling gigs and adopting an attitude, is not what Beth's mother, Eileen, considers a dependable musical act for the festival, which she is proudly co-hosting with her friend Ruth. Beth, as Strawberry Queen, makes an attempt to defend her favorite musician, but when she eventually meets Jason face to face, it becomes clear that this will not be easy. However, Jason's rock star persona conceals a dark secret about his background that has the potential to transform his floundering career. Beth convinces Jason, along with his manager Ray, that the festival appearance is an excellent way to resurrect his career and reclaim his audience appeal. Jason's attitude begins to change as he spends more time with Beth and they both push one another to pursue their deepest musical goals.
