As a New York teenager, Gabriella is a brave and tough person. He is a beloved teacher at her high school and tries to help a student who is being bullied. Her father is killed when he tries to help him. Gabriella and her mother move to Florida, where Gabriella starts a new school. They are trying to come to terms with their loss, so they move there. Her heart breaks when she sees a boy being bullied over and over again in the lunch room. Even if it means taking on the most violent boy at school, Gabriella wants to get through lunch.
