When NATO troops left Afghanistan, the Afghan National Army (ANA) took over control of Helmand Province, which is a very dangerous area where Taliban fighters attack all the time. When everyone in the country doesn't trust each other, it's even hard to find a common language. The film's directors went with an ANA company to Helmand for a year. They were on the front lines with the group all the time. Their pay isn't always on time, there aren't enough supplies, and their equipment isn't the best. They can't fight a war with the equipment left behind by the ISAF, so they can't fight.
