When Korea was ruled by the Japanese in the year 1920, Hae-chul, a leader in the Korean Independence Army, and his subordinates carried out an operation to send monies to the Korean Provisional Government in Shanghai. During the operation, Hae-chul meets up with Jang-ha, a young squad commander whose job it is to protect Samdunja. Hae-chul and Jang-ha have a history together. They work together to ambush Japanese soldiers at Samdunja, where they are soundly defeated as a result of their efforts. Now that they're being pursued by Japanese troops, Hae-chul learns that Jang-job ha's isn't over yet, which adds to the tension. He is nonetheless responsible for completing a mission that is essential but hazardous.
