The City Without Jews
In the Republic of Utopia, because of the bad economy, the Jews are blamed for all of the economic and social problems that the country is having. The government decides to expel the Jews because of this. Leo Strakosch is one of the people who was sent away. They have been dating for a long time. He sneaks into the Republic in order to show the society that their anti-semitic prejudice isn't good for anyone. Bettauer's book is very different from the movie version. Utopia was the name given to "Vienna," and it was a city. Even a happy ending was there.
