A violinist in a small Polish orchestra, whose husband runs the group, meets up with a world-famous symphony conductor while on a trip to the United States. It turns out that he once loved the mother of the violinist. The conductor, who is a bit of a hypochondriac, goes back to Poland to lead an orchestra in a small town.
