As an adventurer in the 1800s, John Cavendish, a Scottish man from Scotland, goes to Tuscany and makes money from his knowledge of botany and farming. It's the present day. Marcus Cavendish is an American painter and playboy who has been getting into debt. Chiara Conti is an Italian lawyer who writes to Cavendish and tells him that he is of the Cavendish blood line. She tells him that he is the heir to Peter Cavendish, the last person to be descended from John Cavendish. Marcus travels to Tuscany to get his inheritance because he thinks it could help him solve his money problems and even help him figure out what he wants to do with his life. At Cavendish Castle, Marcus thinks that everything is going to be okay, but he soon finds out that his family has been tormented for centuries by a blood curse. He realizes that money, property, and land don't mean much when you've been cursed by your family for centuries and have to fight it.
