The Inn of the Sixth Happiness
Gladys Aylward, an Englishwoman, had known her whole life that she belonged in China. Gladys works as a domestic to acquire money to send herself to an impoverished, isolated village. She runs the inn, serves as "foot inspector", advises the local Mandarin, and even wins the love of mixed race Captain Lin Nan. Gladys, on the other hand, discovers her true purpose when Japan invades the country and the Chinese children rely on her to preserve their lives. This film is based on a genuine story.
