The Joke Thief takes us on a journey through one man's final hurrah. Simon McCabe is a stand-up comedian who has been entertaining audiences for over 35 years. He's always been the life of the party, but now he's tired, miserable, and almost bankrupt because he's never gotten a lucky break due to a reputation for joke stealing. His longtime friend and fellow comedian convinces a comedy club owner to give Simon some stage time and one last chance at redemption one faithful night. On the way to his gig, Simon takes us on a whirlwind tour of his life, reliving special moments in an emotional series of flashbacks that shaped him into the sad, funny man he is today.
