December of 1941, Northwestern Front. A German container column is relocating in the direction of Moscow. Throughout an objective to stop the enemy advancement, Nikolai Komlev's IL-2 is rejected. Komlev manages to crash-land his plane in a remote forest clearing up. He lives, yet far from pleasant region. Ahead of him is a relentless trial of serious physical and also mental endurance. After battling hunger and severe cold, escaping packs of wolves and detachments of Nazi soldiers, the wounded Komlev ultimately makes it back to security. However there he faces another challenge, the most life-altering of them all.
