At the height of the Spanish Inquisition, this movie is set. Maria, who is both beautiful and kind-hearted, is arrested as a witch when she mistakenly cries out in horror when a child is whipped in front of people. When Antonio tries to save Maria, the Grand Inquisitor, Torquemada, wants to punish Maria with torture because she makes him want to have sex with her. Mostly based on Edgar Allen Poe's short story.
