The Quiet Duel
Young and idealistic doctor played by Toshiro Mifune, who works at his father's (Takashi Shimura) clinic in a rundown neighborhood. When he cuts himself while operating on a wounded soldier, he acquires syphilis from the patient's blood. He dismisses his distraught fiancée without giving her a reason, and then secretly seeks treatment while being tortured by his guilt.
