Summer 1998 - The Tour de France's opening stages are shifted to Ireland. Dom Chabol (late 30s), a Belgian cyclist, has been one of the Tour's top "Domestiques" (support riders) for the last two decades. It's a selfless duty — setting the pace, blocking the wind, and offering assistance to the team's sprinter – winning is not an option. However, Dom harbors a secret yearning to wear the yellow jersey once more before his career concludes. At the start of what will almost certainly be his final Tour, Dom is abruptly dropped from the Team to which he has devoted his life. Sonny, his best friend and team masseur, is unable to reassure him about his future. However, a serendipitous encounter with Lynn, a young Irish physician, softens the shock, and Dom begins to accept – and even love – civilian life. However, as he prepares to return home and confront his estranged sister, another teammate is eliminated from the Tour due to a big doping blunder, and Dom is thrust back into the saddle...
