Trapper Joe is on his way to town, carrying all of his skins from the previous winter. A troop of Indians, however, halt him and seize all of his hides, leaving him with the runaway slave Joseph. Joe, on the other hand, has no time for Joseph and is desperate to reclaim his land. Before he can act, the Indians are raided by a group of scalphunters led by the ruthless Howie. Not only do they get the hides, but they also get Joseph. Joe now pursues them alone, attempting to deceive the numerically superior gang.
